Despite the snowy winter here in the UP of Michigan, the UP Sandstormers are hard at work planning the 2020 Mad Moose Hard Enduro to be held May 17, 2020! We are the second event on the AMA East Coast Extreme Enduro Series sponsored by Sherco. Series points will be earned by the riders, which can earn riders qualification for the National Extreme Enduro Championship Enduro, the TKO in Tennessee in August!
The course plans are coming together nicely. We’ve made some adjustments to the course so that it ramps up in difficulty the further you go. We will be running three loops again this year. Total mileage looks to be 24 to 30 miles (three loops of 8 to 10 miles each). Starts will be mass starts by class again, with all starts beginning with the endurocross section we had last year (and maybe with a few new twists!). Our event will be spectator friendly, a mountain bike will be a great tool to get to the spectator spots, and will alleviate congestion. Most spectator spots will be accessable by two-track trail.
We are using the LiveLaps scoring program this year, as we anticipate some tighter racing this year – we are hearing from many of the Pro Teams that they are definitely making the Mad Moose a priority event! LiveLaps also streamlines our early registration process, we anticipate registration to open April 1, 2020. We will post a link on this page!
Camping and spectator admission is free. Please respect the private property we utilize for this event, there are no hook-ups and no trash facilities (please take your trash home with you!). While camping and parking is first-com first-serve, we will have a dedicated Pro Pit/Camping area with Sponsor and Vendor displays and rigs. We will also have a food vendor on-site.
Our sponsors are being very generous this year, and it looks like we will match our previous $10,000 Purse – and maybe even be able to make it bigger this year! And, we’re getting tons of swag which will ALL be awarded to the participants of the event!
Looking forward to seeing you in May!
