General Information

Sandstormers Motorcycle and ATV Club, Inc has been host to one of the best District 16 Enduro events for the past twelve years.  We are pleased to host this event again in 2010, and look forward to putting on another great enduro for all to enjoy!

Format

District 16 AMA Enduro Rules will apply to this event. We will use the traditional “Timekeeping Format.”

The Enduro will pay AMA District 16 Enduro Points and AMA District 14 Enduro Points. Please see the Registration Form for classes, etc.

Location

Marquette, Michigan is in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – known by many as offering some of the best off-road riding in the US. For reference, Marquette is about a three hour drive from either the Mackinac Bridge or from Green Bay, WI.  Click here for Google Map of the Staging area.

Full hookup Campgrounds are available nearby, and Primitive Camping is allowed at the staging area (NO campfires!).

Marquette has many hotels available, check the Marquette Visitors Bureau website www.marquettecountry.org/accommodations.php for a hotel listing. Accommodations in Marquette or Gwinn will be closest to the event.

Registration

$45.00 Early Registration must be received prior to June 1, 2010.

Starting numbers are assigned on a first-come first–served basis. No start numbers will be assigned without a complete AND paid registration. If you want to ride with someone, your entries should be submitted together, in the same envelop. We will put you on the closest available minute if your request isn’t available when we receive your entry.

We will have registration, rider information packets, and Tech/Sound Test available per the following schedule:

Saturday, June 12, 2010 -   4.00 pm to 7.00 pm at the Staging Area

Sunday, June 13, 2010 -     7.00 am to 8.30 am at the Staging Area

Please note it would be best to Register and Tech/Sound Test on Saturday afternoon, as Sunday morning will be extremely limited, timewise!

AMA membership is REQUIRED!   If you don’t have your card, you will be required to purchase an AMA membership to participate. Same applies if you want D-14 or D-16 rider points.

All riders must pass 96 Db sound limit and Spark Arrestors are required.  This will be strictly enforced. Be prepared to pass these requirements at Tech Inspection and during the event.

Staging Area

The Staging Area, as well as the entire enduro event, is on privately owned land. There is no practice area at the staging area. There is an excellent and easily accessible State Motorcycle Only single-track trail about 20 minutes drive from the Staging area. We’d be happy to give directions if you wish to go there to practice. Be advised a Michigan ORV sticker ($16.25) is required when riding on State owned trails.

Please, racers only riding during Saturday’s Mini-Moose and Sunday’s Loose Moose Enduro!

No pit riding, please!

Camping is allowed at the Staging Area. There are no facilities available, and NO CAMPFIRES are allowed.

We will have a food vendor on premises. Your entry fee will include a voucher for this vendor. They will have food available Saturday noon and evening, as well as Sunday morning and after the enduro. Our local Township Volunteer Fire Department operates and benefits from your patronizing their food concession – please help them out!

Mini-Moose Kid’s Enduro

The Mini-Moose is again a part of Michigan’s Family Enduro Series! Please see the Family Enduro Series flyer and the D-14 website www.d14enduro.org for more information about the series… A great way for kid’s and beginners to learn and enjoy the Sport of Enduro!

The Mini-Moose event will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010.  It is intended to be a fun and educational event for kids to enjoy and learn about the sport of Enduro. It will be run in two loops, with all riders riding the first loop at a 12 mph average, and the older kids riding a second loop at 18 mph. Each loop will be about 15 miles long. It IS NOT a “practice” for the Sunday event, and anyone riding it as such will be removed from the event.

 No timekeeping computers allowed!

We will have sign up and registration for the Mini-Moose at the Staging Area from 10.00am to 12.30am just before the event, a riders meeting at 12.30, and a Key Time of 1.00pm.

We will have a photographer on the trail to capture those Enduro memories!

Entry Fee is $15 per rider, and AMA membership is not required.

Trophies for the kids, and a set of new Moose riding gear (jersey, pants and gloves) by random drawing for one lucky rider!
